
Thomas Deering, MD, FHRS
Dr. Deering graduated summa cum laude from the Yale University School of Medicine in 1980. He completed his medical and cardiac electrophysiology training at Yale and Tufts New England Medical Center. After serving as an assistant clinical professor of medicine at Yale between 1986 and 1989 he joined the cardiology staff of Piedmont Healthcare at Piedmont Heart Institute in Atlanta where he has served in a number of leadership roles.
Dr. Deering is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiology and clinical cardiac electrophysiology. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology (ACC), the American College of Physicians and the Heart Rhythm Society (HRS). He has served in many leadership roles in the ACC and HRS, functioning as president of HRS from 2018-2019 and presently serving as chair of the HRS Quality Improvement Committee. He is also currently chair of the Education Committee of the World Society of Arrhythmias (WSA) and serves as a member of the WSA board of trustees.
Dr. Deering has been a speaker and moderator at multiple national and international cardiovascular meetings; has authored and co-authored numerous publications addressing cardiac arrhythmia and cardiovascular quality issues; participates in many arrhythmia research projects; and serves as an editor and reviewer for multiple electrophysiology and general cardiac journals.
